The pictures on this page are non surgical, and do not contain any bloody or gory pictures.

The pictures follow through from a picture of my hip before surgey,
through the measuring or 'templating' phase, to the X-rays of my completed hip.

BHR femoral component &
acetabular cup.
clearly showing HA Ingrowth surface.

Pelvic Xray, Cleary showing that my femoral head is almost gone,
and has been shaped in to a mushroom head.
Note the lower position of pelvis on right side,
and curvature of lower spine due to years of shortened leg length,

Xray of hip, showing clearly the damage done
by years of bone on bone use.

Stencil measuring the femoral component
Note the small space in the top left of the inside
of the component, where you see the white star.
This space was filled up with cement which enabled
a slight gain of length, without compromising secure fixation.

Stencil of positioning of Acetabular component.
Here you can clearly see between the head and cup stencils,
how Dr.De Smet was able to lengthen the leg by around 2.5cm (1 inch).

My BHR in straight leg position.
Showing a 58mm femoral Component,
with a 62mm Acetabular Dysplasia cup.

My BHR in frogleg position.
I believe that because my femoral neck
was so thick and compressed, a large
sized femoral component was used to maximize bone retention.
