Considering hip surgery or hip replacement?
There is a new type of surgery that could be a better option for you than Total Hip Replacement.
It may well be the future solution to hip replacement, and it may at least give you a a better short - medium term outcome than having primary Total Hip Replacement right away.
It is called 'Hip Resurfacing', and is fastly becoming widely recognised as a modern solution for hip problems in younger patients.
So why this webpage?
I am not a Doctor or a medical professional, but I know that if it was not for the internet, I would not know anything about 'Hip Resurfacing'.
I would just have had my local surgeon perform a Total Hip Replacement (THR). This is historically very bad for patients who are young ( I was 28 years old at the time of surgery).
The intention is to convey information about my personal experience, the research gathering, surgeon hunting, price hunting etc.
The hope is that you will learn a little something from my experience, and at least take a good look at 'Hip Resurfacing', rather than rushing to get a 'THR'.
The choice is of course yours to make, but i believe that 'Resurfacing' is definitely the way ahead.
It is not my intention to create a huge site, as there are many more very good sites out there that will give you all the information that you need. You will find their links in my 'Favourite Links' page, when it is completed.
